Ok, this years Connect conference was awfully busy for us at Incredible Agent. There was plenty to do and lots of people to meet and catch up with.

As always, there are lots of take aways from Connect. Here are a few things we learned this year…
1. BS is marketing 1.0
2. User Generated Content(UGC) is marketing 2.0
3. Your online reputation will replace your resume.
4. Web 2.0 started on some island in the South Pacific in 1917. (Kula! Kula! Kula!)
5. Blogging is getting bigger. Much Bigger!
6. Being a Geek is cooler than it was in High School. (www.GeekEstateBlog.com)
7. There are lots of features being created and not many businesses.
8. Everyone is a competitor and some are friendlier than others.
9. Business is still about people and face to face introductions.
10. There are plenty of small ideas, but very few big ones.
11. Our industry is panicked with excitement.

Overall, it was a very good conference. Last year, there were some companies in the audience that were under the radar who showed up big at this conference. It makes me wonder which companies were under the radar this year and will be big next year. Hmmm??? We’ll have to wait and see.

Going to NYC this week was fun, exhausting and very education. For anyone looking to meet some of the movers and shakers in our industry, I highly suggest attending…especially the Conference in San Francisco. Here are a few things we learned, need to work on, are excited about and were dissappointed with.

Things we learned:

1. Bright Gold is the new Black
2. Bloggers are cool.
3. Free blogs don’t equal Free speech.
4. New York is Cold…no matter what Al Gore says.
5. Everyone is working hard.
6. Where our Google ad dollars go. (Nice place Google!)
7. Sponsor the next Inman conference.
8. Replication is the ultimate form of flattery…which often goes both ways.
9. Neighborhoods are the new battleground.
10. The industry is rockin’ and we love it!
11. Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Things to work on:

1. Building our real estate agent network.
2. Get our blog 100% ready for the public asap.
3. Work on some killer partnerships.
4. Work on some killer new ideas.
5. Sponsor our favorite bloggers.
6. Build on some great relationships.
7. Better content and more of it.
8. Find some neighborhood data.

Things we’re excited about:

1. The very active blogging community.
2. The bright gold cow has made an appearance.
3. We bow to the purple cow.
4. Many intriguing and idea provoking conversations.
5. Our new product that we’ll be announcing very soon. (Yeah!)
6. Sponsoring the next Inman Conference.

Things we’re dissappointed with:

1. Conference attendance. Not as many as we expected.
2. Blogging isn’t free…apparently.
3. Being the purple cow isn’t always easy.

Well the team is off to Inman Connect NYC to dazzle the real estate technology world with our special program. Hopefully everyone will walk away knowing who Incredible Agent is and what we do. It should be fun and we’re totally psyched for it.

If you’re not familiar with the Inman Connect conferences, it’s basically a place for all us propellor heads and real estate folks to get together and talk about how technology is affecting the real estate and mortgage industries. It’s a great place to rub elbows with all the top executives of all the top Internet companies and meet some Incredible Agents.
